Winner Announced: The Carers Arms

The Carers arms was awarded to a local business for their truly astonishing efforts to mobilise and care for the community during COVID-19.

The Carers Arms is a painting I have been working on during the COVID-19 pandemic whilst the country was in lockdown. The work is my way of saying thank-you to our amazing key workers that have made every single one of us proud of this island we call home.

The painting is my interpretation of all of the things which have been happening over recent months. Many of the features highlight the positive stories which have emerged from the pandemic; those behind the scenes working tirelessly for the good of the community.

So, this celebratory piece is my contribution to a lucky individual or organisation that has done just that... Nominated by you, the public.

I am extremely delighted to say that the winner of this painting is Funky Monkey Coffee Company in Davenport, Stockport. A small coffee business with a huge heart, Funky Monkey provided thousands of meals for vulnerable people and care homes, as well as hospitals; Stepping Hill, Tameside and The Christie. If that wasn't enough, they worked alongside local businesses to supply food care packages and created fundraisers to continue this amazing service.

Worthy winners, don't you think?

So, the next time you're passing why not stop for a cuppa' and celebrate our community heroes with me.
