My story so far

Lucy Burgess
Thank you for visiting my page and taking the time to view my work.

Born in Bramhall, Stockport, my creative career began whilst pursuing a role in visual merchandising, working for a range of prestigious local department stores. The 90's saw the birth of my children and my consequential career break, much of my time was spent painting.

In more recent years, my painting style has evolved and I have found a style that suits me, and the ideas I want to convey. My use of clean lines, bold colours and striking simplicity are inspired by many 20th Century artists, and probably most importantly, my home town.

I am captivated by the history of Stockport, as well as my own personal memories, and enjoy showing off Stockport's landmarks just as they are and how everybody remembers them: with no frills, but standing the test of time.

I truly believe art should make you think, feel and reminisce -  it doesn't have to match the couch as the old saying goes. Much of my work plays on the memories I share with many communities across Stockport; which marked the start of an exciting future for me and my art.

I have exhibited in Stockport Art Gallery, The Arc Centre, and had my first solo exhibition in The Room at The Top in 2015. My work is available in the town's popular tourist attractions: Staircase House, the Hat Works and the Air raid shelters  as well as some great independent shops including
The Warren.
